Pause in the Journey
May 14th, 2020

We Jews are on a journey. We are going to Har Sinai! Isn’t that what it’s all about? What a beautiful time of year is Sefiras Ha Omer, when we measure our progress every day!

“Whenever the cloud was lifted from atop the Ohel, afterwards the Children of Israel would journey and, in the place where the cloud would rest, there the Children of Israel would encamp. … When the cloud lingered upon the Mishkan many days … the children of Israel … would not journey. … According to the word of Hashem they would encamp, and according to the word of Hashem they would journey.” (Bamidbar 9:17ff)

My journey at Yated Ne’eman began eleven years ago. It has been a beautiful journey. Hopefully, it has all been “according to the word of Hashem.”

This is a tough era in the life of the world. People are suffering and businesses are suffering. Newspapers must cut back because of economic contraction, and so, not every feature can continue. This will be the last of my columns here … for the time being.

I I want to tell you, my dear readers: this is a courageous newspaper, a newspaper that “b’chol levavcha … with all its heart” tries to elevate Torah and serve the Ribono shel Olam with courage, dignity and “b’safa berurah … with clear articulation.” I have tremendous respect for the Lipschutz Family. May the Ribono shel Olam enable them to continue disseminating unadulterated Torah until the time when the entire world is “filled with the knowledge of Hashem as the sea covers the ocean bed.” (Yeshiah 11:9)

It has been a privilege that my thoughts have appeared on these pages.

Concerning the current scene, my friends, the difficult days under which the entire world is staggering, it must be from Shomayim, because these are not normal events. We learn everything from Yetzias Mitzraim, and it seems brilliantly clear that sometime soon this current Makkah will be followed by the appearance of a great leader who, like Moshe Rabbeinu, will lead us out of the darkness to the brilliant light of the Geulah Shelemah

These must be the days of Chevlei Moshiach, and, in the words of the Chofetz Chaim, if we hang on to the chevel, the rope that is stretched across the world and is right now shaking and flailing, if we hang on, we will, with G-d’s help, make it to the Day we are all awaiting.

My friends, if you would like to receive my future columns directly to your email address, please contact me at roy@2020vision.co.il and I will add you to the email list.

Thank you for the chizzuk you have given me over all these years, and may Avinu Shebashomayim, our Father and King, bless you and your families with health and strength and hatzlacha. May we all meet soon by the rebuilt Bais Hamikdosh in the Holy City of Yerushalayim. Please look for me there and we will be b’simcha together, b’ezras Hashem, soon in our days!
